When I say Calvin Klein inspired, Its not even like it was planned! Tyller, Carter & I first met at my favorite Thai Resturant to attempt to plan out a wedding timeline & talk details. But instead we gabbed for hours about everything & nothing all at once. At the end of end all we had was a scrap piece of paper covered in sauce drops to send to the wedding planner (which happenes to be my bud Darce!) and a ton of stories shared.
Flash forward to Feb 28, during a stupid wild blizzard. I survive the turtle paced, white knuckle drive to Edmonton, and show up on Tyller & Carters door step! After attempting to go through the timeline again & only achieving to talk non stop back & forth (sorry Carter). We got down to the shooting!
My in-home sessions are more for me and you then they are for the photos! This is my chance to get to know my couples as more then just a vendor.
get to know your photographer!! 100% more then your cater or DJ or rental company. We NEED to know you- and if your me, I don’t see myself as a vendor. It would be impossible to shoot the way I do and not befriend you.
Anyways, back to my story! We were shooting and just chatting back and forth about shoots and stuff. I was explaining to them about a perspective my photographer friend and I had just been talking about. We were saying how everything seems to be “shock value”. That a lot of people are trying to out do the next in the world of photography. The attitude seems to be “what is the wildest thing we can get our models/clients to do that will give a shock value?” Now nudity or partial nudity seems to be the “big thing” at the moment.
But here I am… doing a Calvin Klein undies shoot! That being said, My friend said it best. “There is something more intimate and vulnerable when skin touches skin”. So no, I don’t convince my clients its a good idea to take your clothes off and run around for any shock value or Instagram likes. I ask my clients to push themselves to the edge of their comfort zone, where vulnerability meets familiarity. That’s the place I want you. To capture you in your element, in your safe place- but still at the edge of uncomfortable & vulnerable.
But that’s enough gibber gabber, lets see Tyller & Carters In Home session!
