How did we end up doing an Emerald Lake wedding? OK where do I start?! I’m gonna start at the very beginning and you can understand how we got here!
OK so it starts with a girl named Becca and a boy named Derek (see the beauties below), in 2018 she hired Darcie ( The engaged by Darcie) to help her plan her wedding! Well by a turn of events that I’m not even sure of. Becca + her fiancé decide that they want me to come shoot their wedding in Mexico.
SO that is the beginning of the Dallas meets Darcie story.
Lets just summarize that story up for another time, and say…we became buds in Mexico.
So we’ve done a handful of styled shoots together since then, and then last year we had another couple choosing the Darcie & Dallas dream… well that’s what I call it anyways. I think Darcie sometimes calls it the “oh Cr@p I have to work with that shmuck again team!!!” hahahahaha
It was Tyller & Carter! They’re cool, they’re kind, they’re beautiful, they’re hilarious, and they’re our little peanuts that we get to love and pamper!
You can see that sweet session HERE
Lets fast forward to like feb or something, when Darcie & I decided to plan a styled shoot. Well its easy to guess what happened next!
World goes on lock down & now like alot of couples they were forced to move their wedding day!
Darcie is faced with the challenge of picking up their amazing wedding day and moving it, oh so gracefully I might add.
Then not long ago, they began lifting regulations & we were able to kinda work again! So the styled shoot was a go!!
Now, Darcie & I were discussing details, and an idea came to us! What if we had our couple “Model” so we could give them a pre-wedding, wedding day?! and not to mention pre-wedding wedding photos?
So we got a gorgeous dress from Novia Mia
Flowers from Calyx
a suit from Black Knight
a cake from Kake
Pretty stuff from Special events
and Bellamore & Mslay did up Tyllers Hair & Makeup!
Darcie even found the most magical place for them!!
Emerald Lake Lodge! for an Emerald Lake wedding
Together, everyone chipped in and made not only a sweet inspirational shoot, but hopefully gave our lovely couple a small piece tangible excitement to hold on to in a time where moving your wedding feels like a daily occurrence!
This is Cilanto, usually a busy resturant, however due to the pandemic, it has been closed for the time being, It made the most glorious ” getting ready studio” and I was honored to have an oppurtunity to shoot in the open space, normally filled with tables & chairs.
Darcie was able to set up a magnificent sweet heart table for them to have their cake! even though we ended up eating it like a pack of wolves. I may have just been shoving it in my face with my hands. But hey, I was hungry & it was delicious.
Now this is whee I got a little too excited & ran like a manic into this beautiful, but very full of stingging nettle field.
I think tyller might even be laughing at the noises coming from my mouth due to the firey hot hives building all over my legs. I should really wear pants
So although an emerald lake wedding is gorgerous, I under estimated the cloud coverage that day & unfortunately we never got a glorious sunset there.
How ever, we did pull over on the side of the hwy (like I was amost in traffic) and sneak in a quicky!!!!
I’m so grateful Darcie put together a beautiful day.
